Alphabet of Polish – G

Alright girlies! I know the posts have been sporadic and for that I apologize. I know it’s not an excuse but this schedule is killing me. Working overnights is hard. Real hard. I have been at least trying to make a post a week and I am definitely keeping up with y’all!! I love all the new posts, colors, and products I’m seeing!

So, I promised I would give you a view of my new hair color that my daughter picked out! I’m in love with it!!!

Arabella did my hair for work yesterday. I was totally stylin’ with that flower! Everyone at work loved it!!

Now on to my “G” polishes. The first one I did, I created around using Julep’s Ginger holographic sand polish that came in a recent Maven Box that was surrounding celebrity women. I fell in love with it and couldn’t wait to use it!! I paired it with a navy called Game On from Victoria’s Secret’s previous polish collection, the ones in the round bottle not the new rectangle ones.

I’m so in love with Ginger!! It is such a nice subtle holo!!! Can’t wait to wear it again!!

The second mani I did was slightly lame… It was close to St. Patrick’s day and I had forgotten that I could use color names and not just polish names for my alphabet!!! I decided on Grey and Green. I used Essence’s Grey-t to be Here and Sinful Colors Call Me Later, I got this one in our Secret Santa at work!

I was totally meh on this. I started with plain grey and Ashtree said it was too boring so I added little swirlies to them! It was fun, I guess.

I’ve got something exciting up my sleeve for “H”!!!! I mean like real exciting!!! You’ll have to come back to see!!!! (Is that a cliffhanger or what?!)

Alphabet of Polish – D

Time for my “D” polishes!!! Woo!!! I did really like both of these manis. I got a ton of compliments on the second one I’ll show you. Before I overload you with pictures I want to let you know that this “Alphabet of Polishes” has really been fun and frustrating. What in the world am I going to do for letters like “K” or “X”. O boy…

On to my first “D” mani… I used Julep’s Donna and Pure Ice’s Draped. Draped is one of Pure Ice’s matte finish polishes they had out around the holiday. I love it!! I left it with a matte finish for this mani.

I really like Donna. It’s a n interesting blue color I got during Julep’s sale that supported Human Trafficking.

I had some serious bad luck with my car while I had this mani on. Now I’m not saying it’s the polish but… If the shoe fits. Haha! Anyway, I got a flat tire on the highway, my second one this month! Stupid low-profile tires. They’re killing me. I had to sit on the side of the highway waiting for my Mom to come pick me up and for the tow truck. My Mom finally got there, I called the tow guy and we were on our way. I had to get something out of my Mom’s trunk for her on my way to her car and this happened…

Not only is this ugly but it hurt!! It hurt bad!! Ugh! Had to cut all my nails down so they would match. The tips of my fingers were so sore and my fingers look so fat with short nails!

For my second “D” mani I did dots. Of course. I used Zoya’s Ginessa as my base coat. This is a really shimmery white color. I wasn’t sure what in the world possessed me to get this color but I actually really liked it. It really made my dots pop! For those dots I used Julep’s Bethany, which is a gorgeously bright orangish pink. I love it as well. I can feel a lot of use in summer coming with this color! I got tons of compliments on this mani. For some reason no one believed I did the dots myself.

Sorry for the messing pictures. Sometimes I forget to retake my pictures after I’ve bombarded Ashtree with my art! 🙂

“E” was difficult. I had Evangeline from Julep’s mystery Cupid box I recently got and was excited to use it. The second “E” mani was much more difficult. But I made it easier with a trip to Ulta! Yay! Look for my “E”‘s in the next couple of days!!

Super Bowl Water Mani

It is Super Sunday!

This was my first attempt ever at a water mani.  I used the “spray” “torn” or “hole” method, whatever you want to call it.

I used room temperature distilled water, dropped 3-5 drops of the color in, and then sprayed it with nail polish remover, dipped (slowly at a bit of an angle) my taped finger in.  Used the end of a paintbrush to collect the extra color then slowly pulled my nail out. As you can see, the gold on red didn’t work quite as well.  The gold didn’t really do what I wanted in the water, but I stuck with it because.. well I’m lazy lol.

I chose the colors to match the teams playing in today’s Super Bowl, I have zero attachment to either team so I went with both 🙂

❤ Ashtree ❤

Santa Claus!!!!

I did a super easy, super cute mani for the holiday. I’m real proud of these! I feel like both my right and my left hand came out fantastic!

I did have to redo the accent nail on my left hand (non-dominate hand) because I didn’t top coat over my red the first time. I made sure I was more patient the second time and only got a tiny bit of streaking of the black onto my beard!

These are all prior to clean up. I did this mani Saturday evening. I have a chip on my left hand Santa Claus. Lame! I swear it’s because I’m not using Seche Vite! But I’m over the shrinkage with that top coat. Just need to find another just as shiny and protectant to make me happy.

I used my China Glaze White on White, Sinful Colors San Francisco is my beautiful green on the rest of my nails, I used an ELF nude color that I got in a set from Target, Pure Ice Siren for the red, and my Sinful Colors black striping polish.

Here’s a picture of it cleaned up before I take it off to attempt a Christmas lights mani!!

I love that I’m getting use out of my dotting tools and that I’m able to create some pretty awesome artwork! Proud nail moment!! 🙂

Turkey Day Nails

I am not that great at the whole painting stuff on my nails just yet so I had a big decision on what to do for Thanksgiving. I wanted to do a turkey face and then red, yellow, and orange nails on my other nails. I don’t have an opaque enough orange to do the beak so I skipped that.

Here’s what I came up with.

I started with Revlon’s Hot for Chocolate and the. Added dots in Sinful Colors Cloud 9, Avon Nailwear Pro in yellow (I can’t remember the exact name), and Pure Ice in a red (I can’t remember this name either but if you want to know I could pull it back out)

I’m not sure what possessed me to only take 1 picture of this but that’s all I got!

Later today I’ll post about the Moon Mist polish like I promised!

I had so wanted to get this posted before Halloween was over. However, work got in the way and now it’s going on 5am and I am determined to post my other Halloween mani!!! Besides I haven’t slept so for me, it’s still Halloween!
Somewhere on the interwebs I had seen a mani that was lips and teeth over a black nail, making it look like an open mouth. I loved it. Ashtree tried it while we were hanging but we were not able to get it to work. Our learning experience. I decided to give it a go. It turned out incredible.
I did the mouth on my thumbs, small eyeballs on my pointer, middle and pinkie fingers and a glitter accent nail on my ring finger. The black polish is Orly Liquid Vinyl, the white is China Glaze White on White, the glitter on my ring finger is Orly Right Amount of Evil, the red for the mouth is Stripe Rite, and the green and blue on the eyeballs are 2 stripers I got from the Flower Factory and I can NOT remember the brand, sorry!

The top picture and the individual of the mouth were taken before clean up. I apologize that I didn’t get a close up of the mouth cleaned but the middle picture is after clean up

We were supposed to dress up for Halloween at work today, I applied full makeup and dressed semi-nicely and claimed that I WAS dressed up. I was “put together”!!! I thought it was brilliant costume!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween!!!

All Matte, All the Time!

I am so excited to finally have gotten my hands on a matte top coat! I had read about it months ago and couldn’t find it anywhere!! Well it didn’t help that I thought Essie’s Matte About You was the only one… it’s NOT! I got Orly’s Matte Top Coat. I LOVE IT!!!  You’ll come to find that I am EXTREMELY indecisive! I am constantly asking Ashtree for opinions and even sometime make her make my color decisions for me!

So today I painted my nails 5 different colors and matted the ends and then figured I would decide on the color I liked best.  Here are my trials… Also, I’m real messy… I mean I clean my nails up when I’m done but initially, they suck… BUT this is a real blog by real girls so… Here are my messy nails in all their matted glory!

ImageSo this is Zoya’s Feifei. I love this color and I wanted to know how a glittery polish would look matted.  I definitely do NOT like it matted and shiny but separately I love it… so all matted or all shiny I’m down for this one!

ImageThese are the other 4 colors I wanted to try. From my pointer on, Ulta’s Celebutante, Pure Ice Siren, Barielle Wool You Marry Me?, and Orly Liquid Vinyl. I’m a fan of all of these colors.

ImageImageImageImageImageAll in all, I loved them all. But I had to decide on one… I may be crazy but I do have to go out in public sooo…

ImageImageI decided on the burgundy. I love it!!!

All in all I’m super in love with the Orly Matte Top Coat!!!

The Barielle is weird… In the bottle it’s almost gradient… From the burgundy to an orange… I was excited to use it and ended up slightly disappointed that it came out as a solid burgundy.

I’ve still ended up with a truly unique doable mani, that I love. I couldn’t ask for more, even if it took me 5 hours to complete everything because I put off doing my dominate hand for hours!
